Strengthening National Occupational Health Protection: PT Vale Wins Mitra Bhakti Husada Award 2025

Jakarta, December 9, 2025 — Indonesia’s efforts to reinforce national standards for occupational health protection reached a significant milestone with the recognition of one of the country’s leading mining companies. PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (“PT Vale” or “the Company”), a member of MIND ID and a strategic partner of the government in sustainable nickel downstreaming, has been awarded the Mitra Bhakti Husada (MBH) 2025 by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The award, presented on December 8 at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, honors PT Vale in the category of Women Workers’ Health Protection.

This accolade is granted to companies that demonstrate excellence in creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive work environment responsive to the needs of female employees—from maternity protection to occupational health systems aligned with national standards. PT Vale represented South Sulawesi Province in this category.

Recognition of Inclusive and Responsive Occupational Health Standards

The recognition underscores the Company’s commitment to embedding health as a cornerstone of operational sustainability. PT Vale has consistently implemented occupational health policies, risk prevention programs, and facilities that support the well-being of female employees, aligning with global best practices.

Heriyanto Agung Putra, Chief Human Capital Officer at PT Vale Indonesia, stated: “This award reflects our dedication to creating a workplace that is truly safe, inclusive, and empowering. At PT Vale, protecting female employees is not just about regulatory compliance—it is an integral part of our commitment to ensuring they can work, grow, and contribute with health and dignity preserved.”

PT Vale’s inclusion reinforces the role of strategic industries in strengthening national health protection benchmarks.

PT Vale’s Long-Term Commitment to Employee Health and Well-Being

This achievement aligns with PT Vale’s long-standing priority on health and safety. The Company continues to advance policies and programs such as:

  • Progressive maternity and paternity leave: 120 days for mothers and 5 days for fathers, exceeding national norms.
  • Equal pay and non-discrimination: A 1:1 pay ratio for men and women in equivalent roles, ensuring gender equity in compensation and career opportunities.
  • Comprehensive wellness programs: Covering nutrition, exercise, rest, and stress management, with targeted support for high-risk employees, including women.
  • Gender-sensitive facilities: Separate sanitation facilities and regular health checks to prevent occupational diseases.
  • Zero tolerance for violence and discrimination: Including sexual harassment, supported by active monitoring of workforce composition and diversity targets.
  • Flexible work arrangements and inclusive recruitment: Options for remote work and explicit invitations for women and persons with disabilities in job postings.

Grounded in its CARES values—Compassion, Accountability, Resilience, Excellence, and Sustainability—PT Vale strives to ensure every employee enjoys a healthy, safe, and empowering work environment.

This recognition from the Ministry of Health complements PT Vale’s sustainability achievements in recent years. By prioritizing occupational health, the Company not only strengthens operational resilience but also builds trust among stakeholders at national and global levels. PT Vale will continue collaborating with government, health institutions, and local communities to make health protection an integral part of inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
