Renovated Daniel Building Downtown Reopens
The newly renovated Daniel building, one of Downtown Greenville’s iconic landmarks, recently opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by city and county leaders.
The building – most recently known as The Landmark Building – was championed by U.S. Sen. Charles E. Daniel, whose passion for construction shaped much of Greenville’s landscape. The original building opened in 1967.
The building is now named The Daniel, in honor of Charlie Daniel and his contributions to the community.
The goal of the renovation was to elevate the building while honoring its history. The re-visioned space showcases original architectural features and preserves Charles Daniel’s design while integrating modern upgrades.
The interior is designed to attract new tenants.
Enhancements to the exterior maintain the architectural character that has defined the building for nearly 60 years.
“From the start, we knew that we wanted to preserve the legacy of Charlie Daniel,” said Gaston Albergotti, CEO of Dunean Capital Management and a managing member of The Daniel ownership group.
“His contributions to this city are lasting, and it’s an honor to carry that legacy forward. These renovations not only celebrate his vision but also elevate this landmark into a modern, vibrant space that will continue serving Greenville for decades,” Albergotti said.
Bon Secours Partners With PKL Park, Greenville
Bon Secours St. Francis has begun a three-year partnership with PKL Park as the exclusive health care provider for the pickleball destination in Greenville.
Bon Secours Sports Medicine and Orthopedic teams will offer on-site medical coverage for tournaments, leagues and other major events to support athletes by preventing injuries, helping with recovery and providing acute care.
PKL Park is located at 78 Mayberry St. near Unity Park.
“Our partnership with PKL Park extends the healing mission of Jesus as we serve the community and promote wellness in all the places people live, work and play,” said Matt Caldwell, President of Bon Secours St. Francis. “Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a tournament-level competitor, our experts are here to keep you in the game.”
Pickleball now boasts more than 4.8 million players nationwide; the number of participants is expected to double over the next five years, according to a press release. Injuries increase with the sport’s popularity.

The Bon Secours Sports Medicine team includes fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, board-certified sports medicine physicians, licensed athletic trainers, physical therapists, and rehabilitation and performance programs.

Greer Breaks Ground On Sports & Events Center
The City of Greer has broken ground on a 200,000-square-foot facility for athletics, recreation, and community connection.
The 26-acre property runs from Hwy. 14 to South Buncombe. The entrance will be off Hwy. 14. The facility is slated to open in 2027.
The Sports & Events Center will host adult and youth athletic programs, including basketball, volleyball, and wrestling; pickleball; indoor and outdoor walking tracks; multi-sport simulators; and event rentals.
“Athletics and recreation are deeply ingrained in the spirit of Greer, and the new Sports & Events Center will be a game changer for our diverse and growing city,” said Mayor Rick Danner.
“We’re building a state-of-the-art facility that will meet the needs of the City of Greer now and into the future. The scope and scale are unrivaled in this region and promise to make Greer a destination for champions,” he said.
Construction Starts At Biltmore Walk Townhomes
Construction is underway at Biltmore Walk, a luxury townhome community with 44 residences at Pearl Avenue and Biltmore Drive. Crews have finished clearing the site and started erosion control and grading.
P+F Construction is the general contractor and will oversee construction at Biltmore Walk.
During the next 30 to 60 days, crews will continue grading, installing underground systems, and building retaining walls to prepare for vertical construction.
“These early steps set the tone for the entire project,” said Steve Foushee, co-founder of P+F Construction. “Our job is to deliver with precision and care at every stage, from infrastructure through final details, so that Biltmore Walk reflects the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.”
Biltmore Walk is designed as a modern, walkable community near downtown Greenville that blends timeless architecture with contemporary interiors. The project is inspired by Gramercy Park in New York; it will feature brick and limestone exteriors, green spaces, and pedestrian-friendly streetscapes.
Townhomes will include three- and four-bedroom floor plans, private elevators, rooftop terraces, two-car garages, and interiors by FORD Interior Design.

Sales are led by Tom Marchant and Kendall Bateman of Marchant Bateman & Co., in Greenville and part of Blackstream Christie’s International Real Estate.
Construction will continue through the fall.

Sip, Support, Stress Less At Hotel Hartness
The next KVH Collective, “Sip, Support, & Stress Less,” will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at Hotel Hartness on Greenville’s eastside.
The evening includes a book signing and presentation by physiologist Dr. Rebecca Heiss.
Heiss is known for her T-Minus 3 Technique, a science-driven approach to reframing fear and stress.
The event will include networking, collaboration, shopping, heavy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Proceeds will benefit KIND of the Upstate, a nonprofit organization that promotes compassion among and toward children.

A Walk to Remember on Oct. 4 will honor children lost during pregnancy or in infancy. Reservations are required by Sept. 15. The event is free for parents and siblings and the public at Fluor Field in Downtown Greenville.

Jeffries has more than 35 years of leadership experience in marketing, sales, and business development for the construction, real estate, architecture and marketing sectors.

The Countybank Board of Directors has appointed Lori Robertson as an Assistant Vice President.
Robertson joined Countybank in 2013 in the accounting department. Over time, she became a Financial Accountant to provide support to Countybank’s Mortgage, Trust, SBA, and Wealth Management divisions. In 2022, she was promoted to Senior Financial Accountant and Banking Officer and began supervising additional staff as the department expanded.
